Come as you are
Hey pals!
I know COVID-19 is probably one
of the most talked about topics right now, but I am trying to spread a lil
light despite it. So, hang in here!
Yellow is hands down my favourite colour! |
I've seen endless quotes on
social media about coming out of this pandemic with new skills, hobbies,
interests etc. All very valid and if you have the head space, then go for it! I
have gotten into running properly and have truly gained a love for it. I never
expected that to happen haha.
However, I am so aware that
this is not a normal time and therefore more time doesn't necessarily mean I
can be more productive. I felt all this pressure that if I didn't come out of
lock down with my life changed then had I really succeeded in Lockdown?
I came to a place of
realisation that Lockdown may not mean I have a new skill to show off and that
was okay. However, there's 1 thing I want to come out of Lockdown with and that’s….
To look more and more like Jesus.
Now this may seem like an even
higher ladder to climb and in many ways it is. Becoming more like Jesus is so
much more fulfilling than learning Spanish or becoming a baker.
However, I also realised that
becoming more like Jesus requires me to come as I am. That's right- Broken,
Weary, Lost, Sad, Confused. Jesus meets us where we are. To be in his presence
requires me to be in whatever head space I am on that day. Whereas to be
productive requires so much more of a good head space.
As the wise and very loved C.S.
Lewis once said, "God doesn't want something from us, He simply wants
us". How amazing that our God loves and cares so much about us that we
don't have to earn favour? In fact, Favour is given to us.
I have been reading Esther in
my morning devotional time and have LOVED reading about such a bad ass queen
(She's a literal queen- not a yaaaas queen moment haha). Esther chapter 2 talks
about how Esther was living from a place of knowing how favoured and blessed
she was.
-Spoiler alert- Esther saved
her people from being killed by the King. Would God have done this without Esther’s'
faithfulness and knowing her worth? Maybe. But we should consider it a joy and privilege
that God wants to partner and do great things through us.
I believe God has a divine plan
and purpose for those who believe in him. Gods plans are not on hold because
we're told to stay at home. I would love to encourage you and invite you to dig
deeper into your relationship with God during this time.
It won't always be easy or come
naturally, but imagine what setting this routine and discipline with God now
could mean for your future? I don't care how I come out of Lockdown- as long as
I have spent time with Jesus and opened my heart to looking more like
him.
If this is something you're
interested in, then please drop me a message! I'd love to chat it through and
help you come to a place of peace with it.
Stay safe and at home!
Lots of love,
Charlie x
