The voice of truth
Wishing I was by the sea again! |
Recently I have been trying my best to be more disciplined with getting into Gods word daily. Some days it has been a real struggle, but this morning was such an unexpected joy.
I have been working through a devotion book which splits Hebrews up into 26 days, so you read a few verses a day and then have some reflection time. It has been such a great way to access the bible and be fed daily, without the daunting experience.
Would reccomend to anybody wanting to get into the word! There's a ton of physical copies on Amazon, but there's also digital ones avaliable for free.
Anyway this morning, I was reflecting onto this new season I feel God is taking me into. I have felt a big spiritual battle these past few months and my heart has been pulled in all sorts of diirections. So God has been the only consistent thing I have felt close to me.
I was worshiping and the song 'voice of truth' by Casting Crowns came on and man I was gone. That song felt like it was speaking so directly about my life and current battles.
The whole song spoke to me on such a spiritual level, but I would like to share some words in particular.
"Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone"
These lyrics are talking about when David kills Goliath with just a sling and stone. A massive giant that would have taken armies of men and weapons to take down.
But nope, God came through for David as he always does. It's such an extraordinary story of how God's power always overides what the world says. All David did was be obidient to Gods word. It's a great story to read and reflect on.
Whether the giants in your life are COVID-19, Relationships, Work, Sin etc- God can and will defeat them for you as he did for David. I want to encourage you that whatever season you are walking in to- there will likely to giants in your way.
BUT God is our redeemer and refuse, so trusting in him will provide the strength and comfort we need to battle the giants we face.
I also wanted to remind you that God protecting us does not always look like him removing that battle all together. In some cases, he may well do but not always. Often our trials are a time where we grow and are stretched, so don't expect the easy way out.
When you look back on your own trials you have gotten through, I bet your character developed and you grew and matured? He has done it once and he WILL do it again.
Stay safe and keep pressing into the word in this testing time,
Charlie x
