Be encouraged!

So being a 2nd year student myself, I know and feel the pressure of finding a placement. You've applied for 100's of jobs and nobody’s gotten back to you or you've been rejected.

Feeling hopeless?

Yep, I get it. Now I was going to write a blog post after I had found one and use it as a chance to reflect and encourage. However I soon realised how unrelatable that is for those of you who don't yet have one.

So here I am giving advice on something I am currently journeying through myself.
My journey of this is likely to be different to yours, but I thought I would share some encouragements I have found along the way.

It’s not personal. Okay so maybe it is personal because everything you are is not what they’re looking for. This sounds like a real damper and is definitely one way to view it. However I see it as a redirection. I want to be in an environment where I can add to the company and where I’m wanted. When someone eventually hires me (It will happen!), it will be because they see me as a fit in the company which is what I want too!

Learn from the rejections. Okay so maybe you have applied to all these jobs with the same CV, Cover letter and just changed the name of the company? Maybe try something different? Ask someone to read it over, add more detail/take away, redesign the layout to fit the company. You never get very far without a little graft.

Know your value. You are being rejected does not speak volumes about who you are as a person. Okay sometimes it does, but you’ll know when that’s really the case. You should value yourself and what you would bring a company despite the rejections. Don’t let it knock your confidence and stop you getting back on the job applying horse.

So that’s a little snippet into how this journey has been for me! I hope this has encouraged you a little that you aren’t alone, and it can be a really long journey.
Don’t let the fears of not yet stop you from succeeding and thriving in the future.

I pray you find something for your next season that captivates your heart and allows you to step into all you can be.
