FAQ- Christian style
So i got told that if i wrote a blog post explaining Christianity then it would help a lot of people. I really liked that idea, however i had no idea where to start. So I messaged a few people asking them to send me a question and I'd answer it on here and message them back the response. I was really thankful when I had some great questions come through, so I thought i'd share those and the answers with you.
1. If there is really a god then why do kids kill themselves over mental issues and bullying?
Firstly this is a really tough question to answer as this topic is really sensitive and personal to many. I really hope I don't say anything which would hurt anybody, but please let me know if I do.
I feel like I should start with that God doesn't cause any of this hurt or evil in the world. He created the world to be perfect and for us to follow in the image of him. (Which is what Christians try and do). However he also gave us free will, which is why this world is full of sin. So the evil in this world is caused by sin. Due to having free will, we make our own choices and if god stopped us from having that then it wouldn't be very loving of him. So i guess the real answer is that due to free will it will allow people to be bullies and then hurt people. This hurt can then escalate onto further horrible circumstances.
2. What's the biggest attendance at any christian mass ever? (worldwide)
So i researched this question and it took me 5 pages of Google to find one slightly relevant. But on April 7th 2005 more than 4 million people gathered to celebrate the life of pope John Paul 2nd. His funeral was the largest christian gathering in history. However it wasn't just Christians, it was also other followers of other religions. At first i was shocked because this is a huge amount of people. But after i thought about it I realized that god has brought that many people together to celebrate the life of a man, evidently so influential. If that's not amazing, then I don't know what is.
3. How do you feel being a christian has changed the life you live, like what does being a christian mean to you? - phoebe
So this question is still kind of tough again as it has changed my life in so many ways, but i will try and go through them briefly.
Firstly, it has made me so much more thankful for the things I have and the people around me. Since becoming a christian I have learnt a lot about Christians in other countries and what they go through to stand up for their belief, This has made me realize how lucky we're to live in a country like England with such freedom of speech.
It has also changed my heart and the way I see things. I'm less selfish and I do things to please others and not me.
Going to a church and a youth group has given me a great bunch of friends who I can rely on for anything. I doubt I would have met most of these people without being a christian. So all in all being a christian has made a big positive impact on my life and it means a whole lot to me.
I really enjoyed doing this, so if anybody has any other questions i'd be more than happy to answer them. I hope at least some people found this useful :)
